At the beginning of the 20th century, the reading room at Logenheim/Lodgehouse (Hartungstraße 9–11) also temporarily housed the collection of the Society for Jewish Folklore. This historical photograph from the IGdJ image archive (reference number BAU00367, Reading Room and Community Centre | Picture Database of Jewish History & the Present) is therefore also part of the online exhibition “Jewish Object (hi)stories” (Object (hi)stories | Key Hamburg Documents on German-Jewish History), which is dedicated to the history of the Society for Jewish Folklore and its extensive collection, most of which is now considered lost. You can also follow the trail of this collection in the recently opened special exhibition “Attribution: Jewish. Questions on the History of the MARKK” (Attribution: Jewish | 28 August 2026 – 27 June 2027 | MARKK) at the MARKK. Museum am Rothenbaum – Cultures and Arts of the World, to which the IGdJ was able to contribute in part.
