Hamburg's Jewish History shown in the Museum

Anne Kunhardt, Jana Matthies and Jonas Stier (Altonaer Museum/IGdJ) have written an article for the latest issue of “History Live. The Magazine of the Hamburg Historical Museums Foundation”. Against the backdrop of the current debate over whether Hamburg should have its own jewish museum, they look back at a debate that stretches back over 100 years: where and how has Hamburg’s diverse jewish history (not) been told in museums? Who championed this cause, when and why? And why is it so important to present and discuss this chapter of the city’s history?
